Arieh Leib Zohar Koziol, urodzony w 1923 r.

 Arieh po krótce omawia okres międzywojenny w Zduńskiej Woli (ZW). Wspomina o swojej rodzinie, która prowadziła zakład włókienniczy, i matkę, właścicielkę sklepu z nabiałem prowadzącym sprzedaż jaj, masła i sera. Rodzinę spotkało nieszczęście, gdyż matka zachorowała na zapalenie płuc i trafiła do szpitala w Sieradzu, gdyż w ZW szpitala wtedy nie było. Matka Arieh Leiba Koziola zmarła w szpitalu i pochowana została w Sieradzu. W tamtych czasach nie wolno było przewozić zmarłych z miasta do miasta.

Ojciec Arieh ożenił się ponownie, ale pomiędzy Arieh i jego macochą były konflikty, przez co na rok zamieszkał ze swoją starszą siostra w Łodzi. Wrócił do ZW na rok przed wybuchem wojny, by pomóc ojcu w pracy.

Arieh gives a short introduction of life between the world wars in Zdunska Wola (ZW). He mentions how his family worked as yarn merchants and that his mother’s family owned a dairy shop selling eggs, butter and cheese . Tragically his mother contracted pneumonia and had to be hospitalized in Sieradz because there was no hospital in ZW. Koziol’s mother died in hospital and was buried in Sieradz. At that time it was forbidden to move a dead body between the towns.

Arieh’s father remarried but there was friction between Arieh and his stepmother  so he went to live with his older sister’s family in Lodz for a year. He returned to ZW a year before the outbreak of war to help his father in the business.
