Rabbi Lipszyc

Menachem Daum from his interview with Rabbi Joskowicz

For seven years before I was born, there was a big fight over which rabbi should be appointed to the Zdunska Wola community. The Ger Hassidim wanted one of theirs and the Alexander Hassidim wanted one of theirs. In the end the more progressive people sided with the Alexander Hassidim and as a result Rabbi Lipszyc, a Litwak, was appointed.  In his wisdom the rabbi took a Ger son in law and with that even the Gerer Hassidim were happy.

From the story of Rachel Jakubowicz,

the first Jewish nurse of Zdunska Wola

Pressure was mounting and as circumstances were becoming very, very hard indeed for Rachel, Rabbi Lipszyc came to her aid. By using all of his contacts and the prestige of his office, Rabbi Lipszyc managed to intervene with the proper authorities and nullified all of the efforts of those who were working against Rachel to deprive her of the honour and satisfaction of helping her compatriots.

Rachel stayed in her job, with happiness at her attainment (achievement) and with satisfaction in helping all of those who needed her help both Jew and Gentile, but mostly Jewish. Among those who were in need of her help, it turned out, with the fullness of time the daughter of the same Rabbi Lipszyc required assistance, she did not allow anyone else but Rachel to come near her and attend her. In that way, Rachel paid off her ‘debt’ to the Rabbi.
